Like clockwork USPS has increased their shipping prices by another 5% from the 22nd January. We hate these price rises, but there is not much we can do about it. lets just hope the A$ continues to improve over the coming months.

Like clockwork UPS has put up their shipping costs again this January by around 5%. It is amazing how their costs go up by 5% every year even when inflation is below 2% (their drivers are not getting 5% raises each year). The new UPS shipping costs are now in our system so all quotes and orders shipped will reflect the higher price.
In more bad new USPS is putting up their prices by about the same amount as of the 22nd January. We will be updating the prices when they come through.
With the dollar up to 77c and the fuel surcharge down to 2.25% it is has not been a better time to order from the USA for almost a year. With the oil price rising of the last month or so this might be the lowest it goes for some time.
In much better news the UPS fuel surcharge has fallen to 3%. This is the lowest it has been since I started Price USA (i.e. 2007) – only a few years ago it was over 10%. I wonder how low it can go!
The annual price rises for economy shipping (first class mail) have now come through. The rises are not massive (less than 50c on the average economy shipping order) and economy shipping is still very cheap compared to express shipping. As with all our orders, economy shipping is covered by our delivery insurance so you are always protected.
The new costs economy shipping prices have been updated in the shipping cost calculator and the order form.
UPS has increased their prices as they do every year at this time. The increase is around 5%, but it varies from package to package and also the location. The new prices will be reflected in any package shipped from the 29th December 2015.
The good news is the fuel surcharge should drop on the 3rd Jan and with the oil price being so low it should continue to fall over the coming months.
My US partners and I have reluctantly decided to suspend the economy + tracking shipping option. The tracking is just too unreliable for it to be a viable option for shipping items that need tracking. We still offer economy shipping (first class mail) for customers where the shipping cost is the most important criteria and express (UPS courier) for those customers who need tracking and speed.
Some good news. The UPS fuel surcharge has fallen to 3.75% from 4.75%. Now only if we could do something about getting the A$ higher.
Some not so great news. USPS has increased the cost of economy shipping (first class mail and priority mail) by around 4.5%. With the A$ being down so much this not good news, but both are still great bargains.
UPS and USPS have just changed their policy on shipping lithium batteries not inside equipment. They will ship if the destination is Sydney, but nowhere else. This means in practice we can’t take orders for just lithium batteries anymore. This does not affect shipments of batteries inside items – this is still fine provided the total capacity is under 100Wh.
