How could one be sure that a luxury item that one buys from Amazon is not a fake ?

How could one be sure that a luxury item that one buys from Amazon is not a fake ?

I was thinking in buying something from Gucci but there are not many items for sale in www.gucci.com but there are many items in Amazon and in other websites. Is it possible to make sure that what one buys is not a fake ?

Supposedly they come with a "certificate of authenticity" but that certificate of authenticity could also be a fake, couldn't it ?

Yes you are right about if the seller is selling a fake item they can fake the item as well.

One way around this is have my US partner buy from in store from gucci, or over the phone if the store in Portland does not have it. This costs a bit extra, but you have some piece of mind.
