Have low expectations and you will be a happy customer

To those who post here I think your expectations of service have been influenced by what you have grown up with; “the Australian retail environment”. Therefore In comparison, Price USA is miles ahead. They answer queries promptly and deliver the goods as promised generally within the long lead time of 3 weeks. I have had about 10 orders delivered in full with no problem whatsoever.
However compare them to say Macy’s- almost guaranteed door to door service within a week and at about one-third the shipping cost. Also be ready for pompous and sometimes confusing answers to elementary questions. They are quite inflexible in that they did not agree to consolidate a new order with an existing one even though the first order had not even arrived at their “USA Partners” premises. I am a “silent” customer and wish to keep my interaction with them simple by placing my order and never asking them a question or making requests due to the above reasons. I am worried that if ever there is a problem with one of my orders I will have to put up with their “attitude” to resolve the problem. I am, however, happy with what they offer at present and I have lowered my expectations to their service.
This is my honest opinion. They are good but there is plenty of room for improvement.

My experience has always been positive and I have been very happy with the service and the way I am kept informed about my purchases.

I will continue to use Carolina's service as it gives me a much greater range of products to chose from and as I live in a remote area purchasing on line is the best way for me to shop and I get much better service and quicker than if I order from a shop here in Australia in most cases, not to mention cheaper!

Judith

Re: Have low expectations and you will be a happy customer

Hello,

I am one of the US partners and I'm sorry that you feel like you have to have low expectations in order to be happy with our service. We really do try and keep things moving quickly for you and make it a positive experience because we do appreciate our customers! :)

Due to the fact that we have to order from the store, wait for shipping, receive it, process it and then get it to you, it will never be as fast as if you order directly from Macys, Amazon, or where-ever yourself. Our purpose is to save you money by purchasing items at a lower cost than is available to you in AU and/or to purchase items for you that are not available to you in AU at all.

We do process a lot of orders and sometimes do get questions that are already explained in our FAQs (such as the consolidation one you posed). I apologize if our short answers come across as anything less than helpful or friendly. We are just trying to get through the literally 100s of emails we receive each day! :) Sometimes the tone or answer in emails can come across different than what was intended.

On the question of consolidating after the order has been placed. Like Carolina said, we just do not have the storage space to do this. I wish that we could. Someday our storage might be larger and we could change this, but for the time being, we can not do it. Even if it does not appear that your first order has shipped to us, it might have. It can take up to 24-48hrs from when we receive notice that it has shipped for us to notify you (due to our work schedules and the time difference between AU and the US). Also, some retailers do not even send notification if the item has shipped, so we do not know that it has shipped until we receive it and prepare it to be sent to you.

We have changed a lot recently. For example, us US partners have more direct interaction with our customers. Especially in the case of an issue. We are constantly trying to improve things. Thank you for giving us some information that we can work.

Thank you for your business. We do appreciate it!

Stephanie Macy
SM Forward

Re: Have low expectations and you will be a happy customer

This is a strange review to reply to since those areas that we have control over the reviewer is highly positive while negative about aspects of our business that are inherent to the nature of a purchasing service.

It is not really helpful to compare a service like Price USA with ordering directly from a store like Macys. Firstly, the time taken when using our service will be longer since any item has to go to my US partner first then on to Australia. All this extra shipping will affect the cost and the speed of getting your items. Secondly, a service like Price USA is for ordering items that you can't order directly from a USA store. If you can order the item you want directly from the US store then in most cases you should not be using Price USA for that item. Our service is not designed for ordering all items, but for those items that you can't get directly

I am not sure how to respond to the "pompous and confusing answers to elementary questions" especially as the poster has said that they have never asked questions or make requests. The do appear to have asked if they could have a later order consolidated with an earlier order after the earlier order had already been placed by my US partner. It is a rule of our service that you can't consolidate later orders with earlier orders after they have been placed (this is in the FAQ). While this rule might seem unreasonable, it was brought in because my US partners started to have a big problem with customers "daisy chaining" many orders one after the other causing orders to pile up at their home. My US partners only have a very limited amount of storage space and they were finding that the amount of items that had in storage was getting totally out of hand. This rule has really helped them keep the amount of items in storage at a manageable level. As long as you ask for your orders to be consolidated up front then this rule will not affect you. While I would love to be able to allow customers to add to their orders, it is just not possible to do given the storage space limitations of my US partners.

I do agree with the last point which is there is room for improvement. I am always working on ways to improve our service. I have made a lot of changes over the last year and I expect that I will make many changes over this coming year. My partners and I are always looking for ways to improve things so if you have specific suggestions then please take the time to write to me or post here.
