Shipping 101: A guide for the perplexed (no replies)

Shipping is complex (I wish it wasn't). I have written a short guide on my news page about some of the common issues that can arise. I really encourage everyone to read it as having an understanding of some of these issues can save you a lot of money. The guide can be found here [www.priceusa.com.au]

Detailed Inspection Service Changes (no replies)

As is explained on my FAQ page it is very difficult for my US partners to know if the store has sent the correct item(s) or not. They do make a basic inspection of the items, but because of the huge range of orders we get it is impossible to know if all items received are complete and correct. Because of this we are not able to guarantee that your order is complete and correct unless you choose the optional detailed inspection service. While we have offered the detailed inspection service for sometime now and it works very well, the problem seems to be that many people do not realise that it exists and so don't choose it.

To solve this problem I have decided to make the inspection service an "opt out" rather than "opt in" service for orders that I think will be complex, expensive, and/or difficult for my US partners to detect problems when doing a basic inspection. You will still have the option to remove the detailed inspection service if you wish, but you will need to let me know that don't want it and that you want to take the risk that the store might make a mistake.

No Custom Reebok Shoes (no replies)

Because of continued incompetence from Rebook over their custom shoe orders (every order my US partners have placed has been made wrong by Rebook) they have decided to stop taking order for custom rebook shoes. It is still fine to order normal rebook shoes, just not the customised ones. We are sorry about this, but until Rebook decides to implement a service that can actually make the shoes ordered we all think this is for the best.

Late Consolidation (no replies)

One request we get a lot of is for people to add to an order that has already been placed by my US partner. Our policy has been to not allow this as my US partners only have very limited storage space and in the past allowing these late consolidations caused them a big problem with storage. After a lot of discussion they we decided that they will allow late consolidations, but for an extra $5 fee. They hope that this fee will balance the extra storage issues against our desire to be as helpful as possible. There is no extra fee if the orders are consolidated before the first order is placed.

If you want your items before Christmas then you will need to choose express shipping - economy shipping is just too slow and unpredictable to be sure that it will make it here before the 25th.

Ordering from Zara (1 reply)

My US partners can now order from Zara, but it is complicated. All payment processing is down out of Ireland so that this means that my US partners get charged an extra fee on their credit cards. Because of this they have have introduced a new fee of 5% for all Zara orders. This fee just applies to the item prices, not the shipping to Australia or elsewhere.

I should mention that Zara does not do exchanges, only returns. This means if you want to swap something over you need to get it back to my US partner within 21 days of it being shipped from Zara so that my partners have time to return the item. In practice this means that unless you chose express shipping there will not be time to return items so choose carefully :)

First Class (Economy) Mail Changes (no replies)

Due to the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) there are some major changes to what can now be shipped economy shipping as of Nov 1:

1. Perfume and nail polish can't be shipped anymore.

2. Every package now requires a detailed report of the contents along with another 41 other separate pieces of useless information be sent to the DHS. Doing this significantly increases the amount of work that my US partners need to do for all economy shipping packages.

After a great deal of discussion my US partners feel that the increase in work requires that they increase their handling fee for first class economy shipments by $2.50 per package to cover all the extra work that they now have to do. The good news is that economy shipping is still great value, just a little more expensive. We hope you understand that we are not happy about this, but that my US partners must comply with DHS regulations.

Black Friday sales (1 reply)

Hi Carolina,

I'm planning on buying some Bose QuietComfort 3 headphones but would like to try and get them during the Black Friday or Cyber Monday sales in the US (Nov 23 and 26 this year I think). What would be the best way to do it? Should I fill an order form on the sales day (as the specific url with the discounts won't be available any other time)? Would it be enough time for the order to be processed the same day?

Thank you.

Removing the special Offers from the Kindle Paperwhite (1 reply)

Currently due to the limit per customer set by Amazon my US partner is only able to purchase the Kindle paperwhites WiFi or 3G WITH Special Offers.

The GREAT news is that you CAN REMOVE the special offers from your Kindle paperwhite if you decide you don't like having them. You need to go to Manage Your Kindle option in your account and pay $20. The process is as follows:

Unsubscribe from Special Offers
Unsubscribe from special offers on your Kindle Paperwhite through the Manage Your Kindle. When you unsubscribe from special offers, your account is charged for the difference you would have paid for a Kindle Paperwhite model without special offers.

1. Visit Manage your Kindle
2. From Manage your Devices, locate your Kindle Paperwhite.
3. Click the plus icon to display more information.
4. Click Unsubscribe Special Offers to discontinue seeing special offers and Sponsored Screensavers on your Kindle Paperwhite Home screen and screensaver.
5. Connect your Kindle Paperwhite wirelessly to complete the process of disabling special offers on your device. You'll receive an e-mail notification that will confirm your payment for unsubscribing from special offers.
